PNOE Metabolic Testing
At Ageless Fitness, our PNOE metabolic testing offers a refined, science-based look at how your body performs at rest and during exercise. This advanced assessment helps us better understand your metabolism, calorie needs, fuel utilization, and cardiovascular efficiency so we can personalize your fitness and wellness plan with greater precision.
PNOE testing includes both a Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) test and a VO2 Max test.
Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) Test
Your RMR test measures how many calories your body burns at rest and how efficiently it uses fuel.
-
• Fast for 12 hours overnight before your appointment
• Example: If your test is at 8:00 AM, only drink water after 8:00 PM the night before
• Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 12 hours prior
• Avoid nicotine, appetite suppressants, and allergy medication, as these may affect results
• Avoid moderate to vigorous exercise for at least 24 hours before testing
• Wear comfortable clothing; no special attire is required -
You’ll simply breathe into the PNOE device for about 10–20 minutes. The system analyzes your breathing to determine your total calorie burn and how your body uses fuel - fats versus carbohydrates.
-
• Your resting calorie needs
• Your body’s metabolic efficiency
• How your body uses fuel during daily activity
• A more personalized foundation for nutrition and wellness planning
VO2 Max Test
Your VO2 Max test measures how much oxygen your body can use during exercise and provides valuable insight into endurance, performance, and cardiovascular fitness.
-
• Do not eat for at least 8 hours prior
• Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 12 hours before testing
• Avoid nicotine, appetite suppressants, and allergy medication, as these may affect results
• Avoid moderate to vigorous exercise for at least 24 hours before testing
• Wear comfortable workout attire -
You’ll be fitted with the PNOE device and choose either a stationary bike or treadmill. After a 3-minute warm-up, the intensity will increase gradually each minute until you reach exhaustion.
-
• How efficiently your body uses oxygen during exercise
• Your cardiovascular and respiratory performance
• Your exercise intensity zones
• Data to help guide training, endurance, and recovery
